Dahling, I love growth. Sure, it can be painful and uncomfortable but it also promises new and exciting things. Here are some of the new things happening at DaJen Eats for August 2015. Read all about it, then leave me a comment below letting me know what new things are happening for you this month.
OUR WEBSITE
Have you noticed our gorgeous new website? Don’t you just feel the Irie Vibe jumping out at you from your screen? I have fully embraced my Jamaican roots and now use it is a constant inspiration for creating delicious vegan meals with a Jamaican flair. There was a time I wanted to share with you every recipe under the sun – as long as it wasn’t the Jamaican sun. For whatever reason, I didn’t celebrate the amazing deliciousness of Irie cuisine. Isn’t it amazing how we tend to devalue what we already have or things with which we are already familiar?
I was watching an episode of MasterChef when Chef Gordon Ramsay told the contestants they’d be preparing a meal for a very important family. He kept stressing how important it was to get it right for the special guests, as the family was VIP. Naturally, the contestants assumed Chef Ramsay was talking about the Ramsay family. Surely they must be the VIP family. When the family was finally revealed, the contestants realized that the special guests were really their own families. Doesn’t that give you pause? Are you guilty of undervaluing your own family or your roots? Stop it, dahling. Let’s embrace where we are from and celebrate the people in our lives.
Since I’ve been feeling so Jamaican, I figured a new website should reflect that. Leave a comment below to let me know what you think.
CULINARY SCHOOL
I am so proud to announce that for the first time DaJen Eats will now offer cooking classes in our Irie Veg Culinary School. Our school launches on September 15 with cooking courses you can take at your own pace in the comfort of your own home. How fabulous is that? Pre-registration for the courses start August 15. You want to make sure you look out for the courses. I am so excited to help you master a new skill. We’ll talk more about that in the days to come. Let’s Cook Together, dahling.
NEW BOOK
Okay. This is where I am really doing my happy dance. I am very excited about all the new things we just talked about, dahling, but this one is so personal to me that it brings me such joy to be able to share it with you. My new book “Living the Irie Vegan Life” will be out in time for Chrismas. It is a fantastic gift for friends, family and you! You deserve it. I share my vegan journey and wonderful, easy-to-follow recipes that will help you on your journey. It is also great for people considering becoming vegan or who are transitioning. You’ll get glimpses of my childhood in Jamaica, as if we were walking through fruit-scented fields hand in hand. Look out for it, dahling.
Aren’t you excited that we have started a new month? Let’s embrace change, growth and the Irie life.
Jenn
Wow! Gloria, thank you so much. I am so glad you like the website. I really am proud of the Jamaican vibe of it. Which part of Africa are you from? You are so right, the sun makes everything better, dahling. What is your absolute favorite dish?
